Synergistic effects in the inhibition of polybutadiene oxidation by mixtures of N-phenyl-β-naphthylamine and silicon-containing derivatives of 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Phenol-substituted silanes with formula RnSiPh4−n (R=[γ-(4-oxy-3,5-di-tert-butylphenyl)propoxy] group and n=1–4), especially RSiPh3, are effective polybutadiene oxidation inhibitors.

     
  2. 2.

    Maximum synergism in mixtures of RnSiPh4−n with N-phenyl-β-naphthylamine is observed with stoichiometric proportions of phenyl and amine groups in the mixture components, diminishing in the order R2SiPh2>RSiPh3∼-R3SiPh > R4Si.
