Candida infection in a premature infant presenting as discitis

Abstract

Vertebral disc space narrowing at multiple levels was observed in a preterm infant. Post mortem examination showed discitis and osteomyelitis due to Candida. Candida enters into the differential diagnosis of vertebral discitis and osteomyelitis in infants and children.
