Conclusions
-
1.
The catalytic system formed in the reaction of the methoxyphenylcarbene complex of pentacarbonyltungsten with tetrachloromethane is active for the polymerization of 1,5-cyclooctadiene with ring opening.
-
2.
A study of the products of the reaction of this complex with tetrachloromethane indicated that the catalytically active species in such reactions are intermediate chlorocarbene complexes.
