13C-and1H-NMR spectra and hydrogen bonding in aromatic o,o′-dihydroxy- and o-hydroxyazo compounds

Conclusions

A method has been proposed to analyze the degree of intramolecular N=N...H-O-C hydrogen bond cleavage in aromatic o,o′-dihydroxy- and o-hydroxyazo compounds, using NMR spectroscopy; it was found that the hydrogen bond is stronger in the o-naphthol fragment than in the ophenol fragment.
