Synthesis of ethynylanthraquinones

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    A method has been developed for synthesis of ethynylanthraquinones by condenstion of the corresponding iodo derivatives with 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol and base cleavage of the resulting anthraquinoylacetylenic alcohols.

  2. 2.

    Acetylenic condensation of iodo derivatives has been carried out for the first time in aqueous-organic media with a Pd-Cu catalyst and Na2CO3 leading to a considerable acceleration of the reaction.
