Triplet exciplexes of phenazine with tertiary aromatic amines

Conclusions

  1. 1.

Phenazine molecules in the triplet state form with tertiary aromatic amines triplet exciplexes of the type of radical-ion pairs. The main channel for disappearance of these exciplexes in a nonpolar nonsolvating medium is proton transfer from a radical cation to a radical anion with the formation of neutral radicals.

  2. 2.

Solvation by methanol stabilizes the triplet exciplexes of phenazine with tertiary aromatic amines and retards proton transfer in the exciplex.
