Conclusions

  1. 1.

On the basis of a quantum-chemical calculation and NMR spectroscopic data, it has been established that the Ph3P·GeCl2 complex is a charge-transfer complex. Furthermore, the positive charge is substantially localized on the P atom, while the negative charge is concentrated on the Cl atoms of the GeCl2 fragment.

  2. 2.

The Arrhenius dependence for the equilibrium constant of the complex in a solution of dibutyl ether and the thermodynamic constants for the complex were determined by UV spectroscopy.
