Conclusions
-
1.
The reverse electron transfer in triplet exciplexes consisting of contact radicalion pairs is a function of the spin-orbital interaction and is accelerated upon the introduction of heavy atoms into the reagents.
-
2.
The internal heavy atom effect is significantly enhanced upon solvation of the exciplex by methanol molecules or an increase in the polarity of the medium.
