Conclusions

  1. 1.

The ratios of the concentrations of nonprotonated and protonated forms of 4-and 2nitroaniline in water-ethanol solutions of HCl with a 0 to 87.66% concentration of the alcohol were spectrophotometrically measured at 25°C.

  2. 2.

The difference in pKBH+ for the two bases is constant with a concentration of the alcohol up to 34.47% and is almost the same as for aqueous solutions of HCl.

  3. 3.

The feature which permits calculating the acidity function of water-ethanol solutions of HCl with a given composition of the solvent was found.
