Conclusion
-
1.
The reaction of (CO)5ReX (X=Cl, Br) with protonated molecules of simple organic solvents B (H2O, MeOH, EtOH, i-PrOH, MeCN and benzene) in the gas phase shows the retention (protonation and alkylation of the metal complex) or dissociation of the metal-ligand bonds, among which dissociation of the Re-X bond is favored.
-
2.
The proton affinity of (CO)5ReCl and (CO)5ReBr was found to be 833 ±33 kJ/mole.
-
3.
The reactions of (CO)5ReX under conditions of chemical ionisation with benzene leads to the formation of C6H6Re(CO)3 + and C6H6Re+ ions, likely having π-complex structure.
