Conclusions

  1. 1.

The energy of interaction for adsorbing ammonia molecules with sodium cations and with framework oxygen atoms differs more for mordenite than for erionite.

  2. 2.

Replacing sodium by calcium leads to a substantial increase in the heats of adsorption of ammonia on mordenites and erionites in the region of low surface coverages.

  3. 3.

The heats of adsorption of ammonia on decationized mordenites and erionites in the regions of low surface coverage is significantly higher than on the calcium analogs.
