Abstract
A study was made of the action of primary and secondary α-halogen ketones on 1,2-di- and 1,2,5,6-tetrasubstituted derivatives of benzimidazole. The peculiarities of the structure of the residues of the ketone in position 3 of the quaternary salts of benzimidazole affected the process of their intramolecular cyclization under the action of sodium bicarbonate. A number of new di-, tri-, and tetrasubstituted derivatives of pyrrolo[1,2-α]benzimidazole were obtained.
