Conclusions
-
1.
The equal rates of gas-phase decomposition of 3-nitro-4-phenylfuroxane and 4-nitro-3-phenylfuroxane is a consequence of their rapid monomolecular isomerization.
-
2.
Monomolecular decomposition of the heterocycle in 3-nitro-4-phenylfuroxane and 4-nitro-3-phenylfuroxane is facilitated due to the effect of the nitro and phenyl groups.
