1.
We have measured the rate of deformation of the alloy PdRu-10 during the sorption of hydrogen at 483,523, and 560 K with varying pressures of hydrogen. It is shown that the alloy contracts on the sorption of hydrogen, the contraction decreasing with decrease of temperature. At low pressures the rate of contraction is independent of pressure, while at higher pressures the sample expands, followed by contraction at a rate greater than at low pressures.

2.
The diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in the alloy PdRu-10 has been determined from the kinetic curves for sorption deformation: at 560 K and 7.5 kPa, D=5.4×10−6 cm2·sec−1.

3.
A method is proposed for the direct determination of the diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in alloys.
