Negative ion mass spectroscopy of several cyclic sulfones

Conclusions

The formation of negative ions by several cyclic sulfone molecules was studied. The introduction of electron-withdrawing substituents or unsaturated bonds markedly stabilizes the negative molecular ion. A difference is observed in the negative ion mass spectra of isomers, while the positive ion mass spectra obtained upon electron impact are identical.
