Conclusions

In the telomerization of isoprene with N-methylaniline on complex palladium catalysts, a mixture of N-methyl-N-(2,7-; 2,6-;3,7-; 3,6-dimethyloctadien-2,7-yl)anilines is obtained, and their ratio is dependent on the solvent and composition of the catalyst.

1-Iododimethyl-2,7-octadienes and trimethylphenylammonium iodide are formed under the effect of Mel on a mixture of N-methyl-N-(dimethyloctadien-2,7-yl)anilines.

3.
The Pd(OAc)2-Ph3P catalytic system causes deamination of N-methyl-N-(dimethyloctadien-2,7-yl)anilines on heating with the formation of dimethyl-1,3,7-octatrienes and N-methylaniline.
