Conclusions

  1. 1.

A new source of unhydrated fluoride Ion, hexamethylguanidinium fluoride, has been synthesized.

  2. 2.

Hexamethylguanidinium fluoride adds practically irreversibly to perfluoroisobutylene to form the perfluoro-tert-butyl anion that is stabilized by the hexamethylguanidinium cation.

  3. 3.

Direct acylation of perfluoro-tert-butyl anion, to give phenyl perfluoro-tert-butyl ketone has been carried out for the first time.
