Conclusions

Cyclocondensation of 1-halogenated-1-(acylamino)-2-alkanones with o-phenylene diamine or derivatives of 5,6-diaminopyrimidine gave 2-alkylquinoxalines and 7-alkylpteridines respectively.

The reaction of 1-bromo-1-acetamidoacetone with hydrazine in aqueous solution gave the dihydrazone of methylglyoxal, a synthone for the preparation of 6-methylpterine.
