Summary

The organopalladium(II) compounds, PdR2L2 [R=C6F5,p-HC6F4, orm-HC6F4, L2=trans-(py)2, L2=2,2′-bipyridyl(bpy) or 1,10-phenanthroline(phen)],cis-Pd(C6F5)2(py)2,cis-andtrans-Pd(C6F5)2(PPh3)2, Pd(C6F5)(PPh2CH2)2, PdX(C6F5)L2 (X=Cl or Br, L2=trans-(py)2, bpy or phen), PdCl (p-HC6F4)phen, and PdCl(m-HC6F4)bpy have been prepared by decarboxylation reactions between the appropriate PdX2L2 (X=Cl or Br, L2=trans-(py)2, bpy, phen,trans-(Ph3P)2, or (Ph2PCH2)2) complexes and thallous polyfluorobenzoates in boiling pyridine.Cis- andtrans-Pd(C6F5)2(py)2 have similarly been obtained from K2PdCl4 and thallous pentafluorobenzoate. The complexes Pd(O2CR)2L2 (R=C6F5, L=py; R=o-HC6F4, L2=(py)2, bpy, or phen) have been synthesized from PdCl2L2 complexes and thallous carboxylates in cold (R=C6F5) or boiling (R=o-HC6F4) pyridine, and Pd(O2CC6F5)2(py)2 yieldscis- andtrans-Pd(C6F5)2(py)2 ing pyridine.
