Conclusions

An equation for the logarithm of the concentration gradient of the i-th ion was obtained for the sedimentation equilibrium conditions in a multicomponent electrolyte, which equation can be used to determine the molecular weights of polyelectrolytes. The validity of the equation for strong electrolytes substantially narrows the practical range of its application.
