Stereochemistry of sulfenylchlorination ofβ-deuterostyrene

Conclusions

The addition of arylsulfenyl chlorides to substituted Z- and E-β-deuterostyrenes proceeds trans-stereo-specifically, irrespective of the type of substituents in the benzene ring of the two reagents.
