Reactions of formation and decomposition of tetracyanocyclobutane derivatives of carbazole and phenothiazine

Conclusions

On investigating the kinetics of the reactions of formation and decomposition of tetracyanocyclobutane derivatives of carbazole and phenothiazine we determined the fundamental characteristics of the course of the side reaction of hydrolysis, polymerization, and dehydro cyanation accompanying the cycloaddition reaction. It seems that in polar media hydrolysis and polymerization precede the steps of formation of donor-acceptor complexes, dehydrocyanation, and formation of zwitterions.
