Oxidative polymerization of phenols having trimethylsilyl groups

  • Published:
Polymer Bulletin Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Phenols 2-substituted with trimethylsilyl groups (1,2 and3) were oxidatively polymerized with 2,6-dimethylphenol (4) in the presence of a copper-pyridine catalyst to yield the corresponding poly(phenyleneoxide) copolymers. The polymerization mechanism was studied kinetically and spectroscopically.
