Conclusions

  1. 1.

IR and UV spectroscopy have been applied to demonstrate that 2-(alkylthiomethylene)-3, 3-dialkyl-1,3-oxazolidinium chlorides exist in the form of isomers with exocyclic double bonds, and with either an s-cis or gauche orientation of the alkylthio group relative to the double bond, and that the latter conformational orientation predominates.

  2. 2.

The oxazolidinium ring does not participate in electronic transitions involving the π-electron system of the vinylthio group.
