Conclusions

1.
The process of eliminating water from the molecular ions of methoxybenzenepolycarboxylic acids under electron impact was studied. It was shown that the [M-H2O]+ ion is formed only in the case of compounds in which the methoxy group is located between two ester groupings.

2.
The hydrogen atoms of the OMe group, and presumably the oxygen atom of the same group, take part in the rearrangement process of forming the [M-H2O]+ ion.
