Conclusions
The increments of the chemical shift and spin-spin interaction constants for a series of substituents were determined based on a study of the13C NMR spectra of sulfolane and its 3- and 3,4-substituted derivatives. The values of the direct CSSI at C3 and C4 for cis-3,4-disubstituted sulfolanes with the same substituents are criteria which permit determining the steric orientation of the substituents and the isomerism of sulfolanes.
