UV-spectroscopic study of conformational equilibrium of trans-tert-butylalkylthioethenes

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    During the study of the temperature dependence of the UV spectra of trans-tert-butylalkylthioethenes (I) it was shown that the bands at 43,000 and 39,000 cm−1 correspond to the planar (s-cis) and nonplanar (gauche) conformera, respectively.

  2. 2.

    From the temperature dependence of the band intensity at 43,000 cm−1 of compounds (I), the mole fractions of the planar and nonplanar conformers and the differences in their energies were determined.
