Conclusions

  1. 1.

The principal semiaxes of the ellipsoid of diamagnetic susceptibility have been determined for the C-Cl, C-Br, and C-I bonds in haloalkanes.

  2. 2.

The anisotropy of diamagnetic susceptibility of C-Hal bonds is negative, and it changes regularly in homologous series of compounds.

  3. 3.

An empirical relationship has been established between the anisotropy of diamagnetic susceptibility and the electronic polarizability of C-Hal bonds in haloalkanes and halobenzenes.
