Conclusions
Cleavage of the activated C-H bond with the formation of a carbonion occurs in the electrolysis of α-substituted phosphonates on platinum or vitreous carbon cathodes. The reaction of the carbanion with carbonyl compounds leads to satisfactory yields of olefins.
