Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Multilinear regression equations have been set up which adequately describe the combined effect of substrate and reactant structure and temperature for reactions ofα-bromodesoxybenzoins with m-and p-substituted anilines and aroxy ions, which take place according to an SN2 mechanism.

     
  2. 2.

    The different types of equations which are found are explained by differences in the positions of transition states of the two processes on the reaction coordinate.
