Conclusions

1.
In a calorimetric study of the thermodynamics of the complexation of benzo-12-crown-4 with lithium, sodium, potassium, ammonium, and calcium thiocyanates, this ligand was found to have a tendency for partial filling of the coordination sphere of these cations.
-
2.
The thermodynamic parameters are not in accord with the concept relating complex stability with the correspondence of the diameters of the metal cation and cavity of the crown ether.
