Conclusions

  1. 1.

A ZrNiH2.8 hydride catalyst displays greater specific activity in the hydrogenation of carbon monoxide than ZrNi intermetallide and supported 32% Ni/ZrO2catalysts, despite the same 1∶1 zirconium-nickel ratio in all the catalysts studied.

  2. 2.

The ZrNiH2.8and 32% Ni/ZrO2 catalysts are more stable in the hydrogenation of carbon monoxide than the intermetallide.

  3. 3.

The difference in the catalytic behavior of the ZrNiH2.8 32% Ni/ZrO2, and ZrNi catalysts is the result of the difference in the structure of their surface layer.
