Conclusions

  1. 1.

Bis(1-o-carboranyl)methane was synthesized by the reaction of 1-propargyl-o-carborane with decaborane.

  2. 2.

The splitting of the stretching vibration bands of the CH bonds of the carborane nuclei was observed in the vibrational spectrum of bis(1-o-carboranyl)methane, which cannot be explained by either crystal effects or Fermi resonance.
