The convergence of the horizontal line method for the continuity equation with discontinuous data

Abstract

The horizontal line method is applied to an initial boundary value problem for the continuity equation with only piecewise continuous data. The pointwise convergence of the approximate solutions towards the exact solution can be established. A numerical example is calculated.

Zusammenfassung

Die horizontale Linienmethode wird auf ein Anfangs-Randwertproblem für die Kontinuitätsgleichung mit nur stückweise stetigen Daten angewandt. Die punktweise Konvergenz der Näherungslösungen gegen die exakte Lösung kann gezeigt werden. Ein numerisches Beispiel wird berechnet.
