Conclusions
-
1.
Samples of 9-o- and 9-m-carboranylsulfenyl chlorides, aryl (9-m-carboranyl) sulfides, phenyl(9-m-carboranyl)sulfoxide, and phenyl(9-m-carboranyl) sulfone were prepared for the first time.
-
2.
Similar to alkylsulfinic acids, 9-m-carboranylsulfinic acid readily disproportionates to give 9-m-carboranylthiolsulfonate and 9-m-carboranylsulfonic acid.
-
3.
9-m-Carboranylthiol adds to compounds with an activated double bond in the presence of base.
