Synthesis of phenylurethanes by carbonylation of nitrobenzene in the presence of palladium catalysts

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    During the carbonylation of nitrobenzene in abs. ethanol in the presence of PdO or other palladium compounds the conversion of nitrobenzene reaches 90–100% and the selectivity of phenylurethane formation reaches 85–90%.

     
  2. 2.

    The dissolved palladium complexes apparently catalyze the synthesis of phenylurethane.
