Catalysts for polymerization of cycloolefins based on tungsten hexachloride with permethylpolysilanes and permethylpolygermanes

Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Catalysts based on WCl6, activated by either permethylpolysilanes or permethylpolygermanes, are active in the polymerization of cycloolefins, with ring opening by the metathesis scheme.

  2. 2.

    The use of permethylpolygermanes as cocatalysts leads to polymers that contain at least 90% of cis links.
