Conclusions
-
1.
The products of the reaction of ethylene bis (2-hydroxy-5-tert-butylphenyl sulfide) (PS) with cumene and tert-butyl hydroperoxides (PPS1 and PPS2) are catalysts for the decomposition of tertiary hydroperoxides.
-
2.
The fraction of cumene hydroperoxide converted to free radicals in its reaction with PPS1 is 0.2%.
-
3.
The products of the reaction of PS with CHP (PPS1) in the styrene being oxidized rupture more than 18 chains.
-
4.
The reaction rate constants of the peroxide radicals with the original phenyl sulfide, PPS1 and PPS2, are 8.9·103, 8.7·104, and 1.03·104 liters/mole·sec at 90°C.
