Conclusions

  1. 1.

    A study has been made of the breakdown of α-phenylethyl hydroperoxide during the oxidation of ethylbenzene in the presence of {Ni(acac)2+D} catalytic systems (D is an electron-donor complexing additive). It has been shown that the Ni(acac)2D complexes are modified during the oxidation process, the result being that the rate of ROOH breakdown decreases, and the selectivity for ROOH formation increases.

    Oxygen has been shown to be responsible for the change in the activity of the Ni(acac)2·D complexes which is observed in the ethylbenzene oxidation. A modification reaction scheme is proposed.
