Conclusions

  1. 1.

We have demonstrated for the first time the possibility of hydrogenating the C=O bond in acetoacetic ester on intermetallide hydrides with the general formula LnNi5−xCuxHn (where Ln is lanthanum, samarium, or gadolinium; 1⩽x⩽5), and a relationship has been established between the nature of the-catalyst and the optical yield of the reaction.

  2. 2.

It has been found that the pH of the modifying solution affects the dissymmetric properties of the catalyst; the maximum optical yield is observed at pH 5 for the IMC hydrides containing lanthanum, and at pH 9 for the IMC hydrides containing samarium and gadolinium.

  3. 3.

A study has been made of the influence of the hydrogenation conditions (initial hydrogen pressure and temperature) on the enantioselectivity of the reaction.
