Conclusions

  1. 1.

    Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters have been determined for the 2Φ. ⇌ Φ-Φ system, Φ. being a 2-(4′-dialkylaminophenyl)-1,3-indandionyl radical.

  2. 2.

    Recombination of Φ. radicals is a diffusion-limited process.

  3. 3.

    The Φ-Φ dimers are thermochromic and photochromic compounds.
