Abstract

It has previously been shown by Dorrepaal and O'Neill [7] that eddies, which are not attached to either of the cylinder surfaces, can exist between two identical circular cylinders inserted in a creeping flow with velocity perpendicular to the center line. In this note the flow is examined when the symmetry is broken in various ways, and it is concluded that the existence of these eddies is very sensible to imperfections.
