Conclusions
Diphenylphosphine reacts with thiobenzophenone to giveα-mercaptobenzhydryldiphenylphosphine, which is rearranged by heat to benzhydryldiphenylphosphine thiooxide, whereas rearrangement in conc. HCl leads to benzhydryldiphenylphosphine oxide.
