Zusammenfassung
Nach einer kurzen Besprechung der theoretischen Grundlagen der Poliomyelitis-Lebendimpfung und der Bestimmung der Neurovirulenz von attenuierten Polioviren für den Affen wird die Technik des Affenversuchs in der Prüfung dieser Impfstoffe kurz geschildert. Die mögliche Bedeutung von technischen Unterschieden in der Versuchsdurchführung wird diskutiert.
Ein einwandfreies statistisches Verfahren zur Bestimmung eines echten Unterschiedes zwischen der Neurovirulenz verschiedener Viren, das alle durch den Versuch gegebenen Informationen nützt, existiert bisher noch nicht. Der Versuch zur Messung der Neurovirulenz für den Affen muß daher vorerst noch subjektiv beurteilt werden. Es wird ein numerisches Bewertungsverfahren diskutiert, das die Beurteilung des Versuchsergebnisses erleichtern kann, das aber keine statistisch fundierten Wahrscheinlichkeitsaussagen ermöglicht. Abschließend wird die Bedeutung dieses Versuchs für die Unschädlichkeit der Impfstoffe am Menschen kurz besprochen.
