Intensity variation of alkali-metal emission in a flame and equilibrium ionization alteration by a steady electric field

Conclusions

A strong field near the cathode displaces the ionization equilibrium and so weakens the resonance lines at high degrees of ionization, whereas at low degrees of ionization it strengthens the lines of Cs, Rb, and K by electrolysis.
