Summary

About 2,000Succinea elegans and 4,000S. putris were examined for larval trematode infections, visible in the living snails. The larval forms of six species were found. The sporocyst ofLeucochloridium cyanocittae McIntosh, 1932, is reported and described for the first time from Western Europe. The sporocyst ofNeoleucochloridium holostomum (Rudolphi, 1819) is described and the successful cloacal infection of chicks by its artificially excysted metacercariae is reported. Furthermore a land-snail,Succinea elegans, is reported for the first time to be an intermediate host ofCyclocoelum microstomum (Creplin, 1829), and information is given on its redia and metacercariae, and on a successful feeding experiment with a coot (Fulica átra L.). The remaining three species,Leucochloridium paradoxum Carus, 1833,L. perturbatum Pojmanska, 1969, andL. vogtianum Baudon, 1881 were described and discussed in a previous paper (Rietschel, 1972).
