Conclusions
-
1.
It was found that an analogy exists in the gas chromatographic behavior of aliphatic sulfur- and oxygen-containing compounds. Equations were proposed that relate the retention indices of the corresponding compounds.
-
2.
A study was made of the effect of the character of the heteroatom on the values of the retention indices of mercaptans and alcohols, and also of sulfides and ethers, on columns packed with Apiezon M, Triton X-305, and polyethylene glycol-1000.
