Conclusions
-
1.
The formation of butadiene from the n-butenes on an iron oxide catalyst in the presence of hydro-chloric acid proceeds at a much lower temperature than from n-butane.
-
2.
Under the same conditions the yield of butadiene is 1.5 times greater from the 2-butenes from from 1-butene, and 2–3 times greater than from n-butane.
-
3.
The conversion of 1-butene to 2-butene was not observed during the oxidative dehydrogenation of the n-butenes at 455–583°: isomerization with a shift of the double bond goes to the extent of 1–4% only for 2-butene.
-
4.
The oxidative dehydrogenation of the 2-butenes is accompanied by the cis-trans isomerization reaction.
