Study of the interaction of acridine with α-chymotrypsin by the method of fluorescence

  • Published:
Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Conclusions

  1. 1.

The fluorescence of acridine in aqueous medium and in a number of organic solvents, as well as that of acridine bound in the adsorption site of α-chymotrypsin, was studied.

  2. 2.

Acridine bound to α-chymotrypsin is in contact with proton donor groups in the hydrogen bond, possessing reduced proton donor properties.

  3. 3.

Complexes of α-chymotrypsin and acridine, formed in aqueous medium and in anhydrous DMSO, possess close fluorescent properties.
