Separation of amino acids and peptides 1. Separation of the diastereomers of alanylalanine and alanylserine by the use of Cu(II) and Ni(II) chelates

Conclusions

  1. 1.

Complexes of Schiff bases with Cu(II) and Ni(II) ions can be successfully used for the Chromatographic separation of diastereomeric dipeptides. The retention time is greater for the Ni(II) chelates than for their Cu(II) analogs.

  2. 2.

Replacement of the salicylic aldehyde by 5-bromosalicylic aldehyde or 5-nitrosalicylic aldehyde increases the gel sorption of the Schiff base metal complexes, thereby improving the separation of the diastereomeric dipeptides.
